Free waterwell screenings

The Texas Well Owner Network is having a water screening event for private well owners in the county whose wells might have taken in flood water. The water will be screened for total coliform bacteria and E. coli bacteria. Water samples can be dropped off at the AgriLife extension office from 8:30-11 a.m. on August 21. The results of the screenings will be released at the extension office August 22 at 11 a.m. August 21-22

Dementia Live training

A Gift of Time presents a Dementia Live training program aimed to help dementia family caregivers. The high-impact dementia simulation experience immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of cognitive impairment and sensory change. Rally in Round Rock against Immigration and Customs Enforcement

The organization Indivisible 1431 is hosting a rally to “build awareness of federal mistreatment of residents,” according to the group. Immigration advocates, local leaders and activists will speak at the event located at Koughan Memorial Water Tower Park, 200 Round Rock Avenue. August 30, 10 a.m.- noon

Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church Annual Bazaar

Labor Day sidewalk sale

Downtown businesses will have special deals over the Labor Day holiday weekend to clear out stores for holiday items. The specials will be posted on participating businesses social media and on the Visit Georgetown Facebook page throughout August and during the event. August 29-September 1, noon to 5 p.m.

Annual Community and Veterans Job Fair

The City of Georgetown, Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area and the Texas Veterans Commission are hosting the Annual Community and Veterans Job Fair September 4. This event is free and held at 445 East Morrow Street, Georgetown. September 4, 9 a.m. to noon

First Friday Music on the Square

The Downtown Georgetown Association and Georgetown Beard Club host music on the Square the first Friday of the month from March through November. Enjoy performances while exploring the shops, restaurants and art around Georgetown’s downtown. Performances are held on the courthouse lawn. Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. September 5, 6-8 p.m.

First Friday Ghost Tours

On the first Friday of the month from March-November, The Williamson Museum offers ghost tours around the Square. Learn about haunted and historic venues in downtown Georgetown. K-9 Kerplunk

Dog owners can celebrate the end of summer with their pups at the annual K-9 Kerplunk event September 6 at the Georgetown Recreation Center. Registration opens August 4 for Georgetown residents and August 5 for nonresidents. It costs $5 per dog, but humans are admitted free. Each dog owner must complete a liability waiver, available at https://tinyurl.com/bddahztc. To get to K-9 Kerplunk, on the day of the event, go through the gate located on the southeast side of the Rec Center near the outdoor pool. September 6, 9 a.m. to noon

Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz

Join Georgetown Parks and Recreation, and parks throughout the country, in a fun challenge to see how many pollinator species can be documented at Garey Park, 6450 Ranch to Market Road 2243. Free. September 6, 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Patriot Day ceremony

A Patriot Day Ceremony will be held in the Social Center Ballroom, on Thursday, September 11, at 11 a.m. to commemorate the 2,977 lives lost in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. This event is free and open to the public. September 11, 11 a.m.

Downtown Historic Walking Tours

Sponsored by the Williamson Museum and the city’s Downtown and Tourism Department, these tours will highlight the historical features in downtown over the course of about 45 minutes. The tours leave from the Main Street side of the courthouse. Participants are invited to stay downtown after the free tour and then return for a free indoor tour of the historic courthouse September 12, 10 a.m.

Sun City Democrats program

The Sun City Democrats will host Georgetown author and speaker Jo Ivester. She will a share a mother’s perspective on having a trans son in Texas. The talk is held in the Sun City Ballroom, 13 September, 2 Texas Drive, and doors open at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome. September 13, 10 a.m.

New exhibit at the Georgetown Art Center

Artist Caroline Walker’s Interlocking Paths will be on display September 12 through October 12 at the Georgetown Art Center. It explores the intersections of presence, connection and time. The artist talk is September 14 from 2-4 p.m. September 14, 2-4 p.m.

Day Trip to George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum

First United Methodist Church is organizing a day trip to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station. A $30 fee will cover admission and transportation. Purchase lunch there ($15-$20) or bring a lunch to eat on the way. Departure from the church is at 8 a.m., with an estimated return time of 4 p.m. September 17, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

PFLAG Georgetown Support Group Meeting

PFLAG Georgetown is a chapter of PFLAG, the country’s first and largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and their families. The organization holds a monthly support group for parents and allies of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as for members of that community. GTX FILM FESTIVAL

The GTX Film Festival launched back in 2019 and has become a fall tradition in Georgetown. Talented directors, producers, actors, writers, musicians and cinematographers take center stage, as winning visual storytelling entries are showcased along with feature-length narrative films, documentaries and shorts. Wine, Women & Shoes CASA fundraiser

CASA of Williamson County will host its second Wine, Women & Shoes fundraising event on Saturday, September 27. The event will feature wine tastings, shopping and fashion while the community gathers in support of the children CASA serves. Organizers aim to raise $150,000 this year. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

The Penfold Theatre Company in Round Rock is starting off their season with the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. This Tony-award winning comedy shares the story of high-achieving students fighting for a spelling bee championship. September 12-September 28
