Art Scapes: Veteran artists receive praise, support
The Williamson County Art Guild and ArtSpark Texas present the 16th Annual Distinguished Artist Veterans Exhibit, a juried exhibition showcasing the creativity and talent of those who have served in the military.
Offer praise and support for our amazing veterans at the reception is 5-7 p.m., Friday, November 7, during First Friday Fun in Georgetown at the Williamson County Art Guild Gallery, 708 South Rock Street, just a block off the Georgetown Square. You will have a chance to meet some of the artists and hear about how they create their art.
Gallery artists will be on hand with new art on every wall. Enjoy live music by Chris Van Loan, refreshments and wonderful art while chatting with the artists and friends.
Painted Barrel winners
Georgetown Arts and Culture painted barrel winners have been announced. The results are in and the public has spoken.
Ten incredible entries this year and over 200 votes, the winners are: (drum roll, please...)

Most Unique: Blooming Strings by Tim Schmidt
People’s Choice: Field of Poppies by Mark Stalkner
Thanks to everyone who voted online and in person and a special thank you to everyone who had winning bids on this year’s barrels. The water conservation team raised $1,335 that will go towards conservation outreach and education throughout Georgetown.
Adsit art
The Adsits, Fred and Teri, bring their photographic expertise to the Healing Arts Gallery on display from November 7 until January 9.
The husband and wife duo offer reflections of their own experiences, achievements and travels. Most of the photos in this exhibit were taken in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas Hill Country drive-abouts during the “yellow and red flower” season that comes on the heels of the bluebonnets in the Spring.
The exhibition is on view at the lobby gallery in St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, 2000 Scenic Drive in Georgetown. It is free and open to the public during regular hospital hours.

The WCAG Gallery Artist of the Month is Jessica Cook, a figurative and still life painter.
At the University of Texas in Austin, she pursued dual degrees in English and Advertising that led to a communications career. During this time, she began a disciplined practice of life drawing sessions and a daily visual journal of everyday life. To further her art training, she studied at the Austin Fine Arts Classes Atelier, and later with many outstanding figurative artists. She also apprenticed with portrait artist Marc Chatov.
Ms. Cook has had solo shows at Emory University, along with several venues in Atlanta, Georgia. She has won awards in juried shows, and her works hang in collections across the country. She has lived in the Pacific Northwest, New York City, Atlanta, and now is in the Central Texas area, where she grew up.
