The Williamson County Commissioners Court voted to allow Hutto-based Tranquil Mortuary to continue providing transport services for recently-deceased bodies while directing county staff to pursue a formal contract, following debate over whether the service should have been competitively bid under county purchasing rules.
During the June 9 meeting, the four Justices of the Peace explained that they would like to continue with their partnership with Tranquil Mortuary in Hutto. However, the county hadn’t previously had a formal agreement with the company.
In Wilco’s procurement and purchasing policies, if an entity is spending more than $100,000 on a service, it must be put on a competitive bid and then approved by the Commissioners Court.
