Blynn Conway McGrath

Blynn Conway Mc-Grath entered into eternal life on September 26. 2022. She was born in Blackwater, Missouri. On April 8, 1927, to John Richard Conway and Florence P. Conway. She later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and attended Central High School. She graduated in 1945, and rode the train to California to attend Pepperdine University her first year of college. She finished her formal education at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, and earned a degree in Home Economics and Education. After her graduation from college she accepted a job with the gas company in Pittsburg, Kansas where she met her future husband, Harold Mc-Grath. Harold and Blynn lived in Houston for 23 years before moving to Georgetown in 1982.

Blynn was passionate about many things and a lover of all. Harold and Blynn loved polka dancing and music of all kinds. Blynn had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed singing hymns, especially those she had learned growing up in the Church of Christ. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Georgetown where she helped to lead PALS and the Strong Bones Exercise group for many years. She was also a Stephen’s Minister and had several care receivers who she loved very much. The Red Poppy Club was also something she enjoyed and participated in for several years. Her love of reading, especially poetry, was a comfort to her.

Her love of children lead her to teach Kindergarten at Southwest Church of Christ in Houston. Later she taught Kindergarten and third grade at Briargove Elementary in Houston for many years, retiring from education when she moved to Georgetown.

Blynnwaspredeceasedbyherhusband,Harold, herson,David,hersister,KathleenConway Powell, and her brother, James Richard (Dick) Conway. She is survived by her two daughters, one grandson, and three great-grandsons: Marilyn (husband, Waddy Wadkins, son, Jordan Wadkins, wife, Rachel, and Joel, Chase, and Laine) and Joyce McGrath (of Houston). She also has several nephews and nieces that she loved with all her heart.

A memorial service is to be scheduled at a later date and friends and family will be notified of the location and time.
