Bobby Bowden
Bobby Bowden
We deeply mourn the passing of Bobby Bowden on July 22, 2023, at the age of 80.
Bobby, born on July 15, 1943, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to J.E. and Juanita Bowden, lived a life exemplifying love, joy and steadfast Christian faith. A valued member of the First Baptist Church in Gonzales, his melodic voice in the choir enriched many worship services.
In addition to his church involvement, Bobby’s benevolent spirit shone through his active participation in the Rotary Club, contributing significantly to community service. Known for his large heart, Bobby was always ready to assist those in need and eagerly shared his faith with others, touching numerous lives with his kindness and compassion.
As a family man — a dedicated father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather — Bobby’s love and care were boundless.
He also left a remarkable legacy as the inventor of the “Wildcat Automatic Drilling System,” a testament to his innovative spirit in the oil industry.
Bobby’s youthful enthusiasm was evident in his passion for go-carting, winning various awards. He cherished traveling, especially to the mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico, finding joy in boating, card games and RV journeys with his loved ones. His infectious energy and love for life were truly inspiring.
Predeceased by his beloved wife, Connie Bowden, who passed away on January 15, 2005, Bobby’s profound connection with her remains a cherished memory. His legacy continues through his children Lisa Morrow and her husband Pat, Lorie Seay, Leslie Marburger and her husband Greg and Blake Bowden and his wife Ronda, as well as his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bobby can be made to the First Baptist Church of Gonzales (422 St Paul Street, Gonzales, Texas, 78629), reflecting his lifelong dedication to his faith and community.
