Douglas Neill Mueller
Douglas Neill Mueller
On May 14, 2024, Douglas Neill Mueller, 66, of Georgetown, joyfully went to his heavenly home after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. Doug did everything his way with daring, passion, and a strong stubborn streak.
Doug loved the simple life he lived. From a very early age, his storytelling could leave his family and friends laughing and in tears. He worked hard as a long-haul trucker, a construction worker and an equipment operator. As hard as he worked, though, he played harder. Doug was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting using both a gun and bow, especially at Terlingua, Texas, and fishing anywhere he found water. Doug’s other passions were motorcycle riding, working on guns and growing amazing vegetables in his garden. He was a creative and skilled woodworker, bringing out the beauty of wood in his many creations. One of Doug’s greatest pastimes was grilling or holding a crawfish boil, drinking a beer (or two), and shooting the bull with friends.
Throughout his life, Doug considered his dad his best friend. They fished together, grilled together, and worked side-by-side. He had the highest regard for him and learned to be a man of integrity, honesty, and faithfulness from him.
Doug had a deep faith and saw the outdoors as his personal sanctuary, where he preferred to commune with God through nature. His faith brought him comfort, peace and joy as he faced illness and death.
Doug was born in Georgetown on March 18, 1958, to Marvin and Marjorie Mueller. He leaves behind his parents, Marvin and Marjorie; his children and grandchildren, Shalene Conrad, her husband Brent, and their sons Lason and Owen; James Mueller and his son, James; and Jordan Mueller; his sister Brenda Chlapek and her husband Dwaine; his aunt, Marilyn Schkade; the mothers of his children, Susan Phillips Mueller and Rhonda Browder Morrison; many cousins, notably Jane Schneider Benham; a select group of very close friends; and his beloved, loyal and constant companion to the end, his dog BB.
As he entered his heavenly home, Doug was greeted by a host of family and friends who were lovingly, patiently and joyfully waiting for him. They include his grandparents, Alfred and Emma Mueller and Fred and Velma Schneider, an uncle and aunt, Norman Mueller and Evelyn Wolf, and many extended family members and close friends.
Doug’s deep-rooted connection to his German heritage was a source of immense pride. His ancestors, who immigrated from Germany in the late 1800s, were instrumental in establishing St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walburg. It was in this church that Doug was baptized in March 1958 and where his family and friends will unite to bid him a final farewell.
Doug’s memorial service details will be announced on the dedicated Facebook page,
InMemoryof.DougMueller. This page also serves as a place to share memories and messages of support for the family and to donate to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation in Doug’s name. Donations may also be made to the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Mimi, Sherry, Lisa, Kirsten and Sherrie of Choice Hospice for their love and kindness to Doug and our family in his last days.
‘‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
