Eleanor (Ellie) Gladys Decker, 94, of Georgetown Texas passed away on January 16, 2025. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, September 15, 1930 where she attended and graduated high school. After graduation, Ellie worked several years for the Chicago Tribune newspaper, she then decided to enlist in the United States Air Force during the Korean war era.

The Air Force provided her the opportunity to experience a new life while working in Washington, D.C., at the Pentagon, supporting military leaders for the United States Department of Defense. Ellie also met and married the love of her life, Donald G. Decker, who was also enlisted in the United States Air Force. Don and Ellie were married 63 years with the passing of Don in 2018.

After four years in the military, both Ellie and Don attended Texas Tech University. Upon graduation, they moved and lived in various cities in the United States, while settling in Austin and then Georgetown. While living in Austin, Ellie worked for the Austin Independent School system, and the University of Texas Petroleum Engineering Department.

Ellie was an accomplished painter; she loved showing and selling her paintings with Don at the many arts and crafts shows around Texas. Ellie enjoyed traveling across the United States in their recreational vehicle and their membership to the Georgetown Country Club. Ellie’s Christian faith was strong and was a long-time member of Georgetown’s Grace Episcopal Church.

Ellie is survived by her children Kathleen and Keith, daughter-in-law Diane, grandson Matthew, his wife Megan and great-grandchildren Emilia and Will, grandson Drew, his wife Jennifer and great-grandchildren Liam and Adelaide. Ellie is also survived by her niece Diane Wilk and nephews, David, Bobby and Tom Wilk, and their families who live in the Chicago area.

Services will be held at Georgetown’s Grace Episcopal Church on February 15, 2025, at 1 p.m. If you would like to honor her and/or in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Georgetown’s Grace Episcopal Church.
