Shirley Kay Ussing of Georgetown, Texas a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on October 27, 2023, at the age of 72.
Shirley spent her childhood in Ontario, Oregon, on a dairy farm where she developed a strong work ethic. When she was still a teen she began working as a nurse aid and eventually became a nurse, a profession she excelled at due to her compassion for others.
Shirley and her husband Dan Ussing were married for 52 years. Together they had five children whom they raised with love, setting an unparalleled example of service and respect to others.
Shirley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent countless hours serving. Shirley served as a teacher in the children’s program for countless years where she shared her love for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
She often served her friends and neighbors by delivering her famous sugar cookies and rolls to them in times of trial and celebration. Shirley was unwavering in her love and devotion to her family, selflessly pouring her heart into supporting and loving them.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Dan; two sisters, Rosalie and Deana; four children, Danell, Bryson, Carlene and Angela, and their respective spouses; ten grandchildren; one great-grand child; and the many others that she loved as family. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Richard and Grace Nelson, her infant sister Angela and her infant son David.
Viewing will be held Friday November 3 at 5 p.m. at Gabriels Funeral Chappel and memorial services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 218 Serenada Drive, Georgetown.
