A beautiful tribute to Mayor Leo Wood

Letters

To all who contributed to the wonderful editorial tribute to Leo Wood, what a treat to have the development of our lovely hometown chronicled so beautifully in Sunday’s edition.

While we have had family in Georgetown for over 60 years, my experience has been limited to only a portion of that time during which its evolution sneaked up and rather astonished us. Your depiction was the definition of outstanding leadership from and a well-liked and trusted individual who also had vision and the talent to garner cooperation from others. Knowing what was needed and being a genius at finding ways to make it happen (grants were not so widely known and available early on) and persisting are indeed enviable character traits.

Telling his story from the creation of Lake Georgetown, to the Serenada development, to the building of State Highway 130, the encouragement of architectural preservation and to the restoration and beautification of our square, makes it the rival of any notable biography. How fortunate are those of you who knew this amazing couple: Vivian and Leo Wood!
