Sales tax increases overall in county in newest report

Kicking off the new year, most of the cities in the county have seen increased revenue when comparing sales tax from January 2023 to January 2024.    Most notably, Taylor’s sales tax grew over 100 percent, allowing the city to rank in over $3.3 million.

Unemployment decreases across county

The Texas Workforce Commission released updated unemployment numbers for Central Texas counties for October 2023.  In October, unemployment in Williamson County decreased to 3.5 percent after spending two months at 3.7 percent.

Georgetown, Liberty Hill loses profits in newest sale tax report

The following are sales tax revenues reported by the Texas Comptroller in the November 2023 report, which is representative of activity from two months prior:    Georgetown In the November 2023 report, Georgetown decreased by 6.51 percent when compared to November 2022.

The American Plant Food Corporation fertilizer facility — located at 9901 State Highway 95 in Bartlett — caught fire because of a chemical spill Sunday, August 20, at 9:38 p.m.
