New Images Hair Salon is more than just a workplace for manager Shaina Jordan, who grew up watching her mother Kathy Arnold — who opened the salon three decades ago — give Georgetown residents new and improved looks. “[New Images] is a family,” Ms. Jordan said.

Lulu’s Pie Shoppe is bringing pie and more to the Square in Georgetown. “Our menu will grow, but the heart of our business will stay the same, pie,” said Lisa Franke, who goes by Lulu. “I didn’t come from a family that baked, but my mother-inlaw made cookies every year.

Costco Wholesale teases June opening in Georgetown

Georgetown’s very own Costco Wholesale should be operating by June of this year, according to the company’s website. The update is found on the “New Locations Coming Soon” page of the company website.

Ethiopia in the Horn of Africa is the continent’s oldest independent country. Apart from a five-year occupation by Mussolini’s Italy during World War II, it has never been colonized. The country is home of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, one of the oldest Christian denominations.

Torchy's Tacos files permits for Georgetown restaurant

Permits were filed earlier this month to construct a Torchy’s Tacos in Georgetown. Paperwork was submitted with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Best of Georgetown winners include The Caring Place, BiG and Blue Corn Harvest

The votes are in for the 2022 Best of Georgetown contest.   Hosted annually by the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Best of Georgetown contest recognizes outstanding Georgetown businesses, restaurants and shops.  There are 44 categories, including best attractions, services and activities.
Georgetown resident Philip Smith recently opened Stryke Tuning, a piano tuning business assisting instrument owners in Georgetown and surrounding areas. In addition to tuning pianos, Mr. Smith is the director of music and worship at First Presbyterian Church Georgetown.
