City moves forward with short-term rental regulations

Georgetown will implement a registration permit requirement to help keep track of the growing number of short-term rentals offered throughout the city. Registration will be used to make sure Hotel Occupancy Taxes are being collected and paid to the city.

Georgetown’s FY25 budget approved on second reading

Georgetown’s $842.6 million budget and property tax rate of 36.47 cents per $100 assessed valuation for Fiscal Year 2025 was officially approved unanimously by city council during its meeting on September 10. This was the second and final reading of the budget.

Georgetown continues Garey Park updates, expansion

More amenities are on the way to Garey Park, as a five-year project enters its second phase. The next phase of improvements include an expansion to Garey House, changes to the park entry, an amphitheater, three group cabins, a retreat pavilion, a RV host site, parking and a play ranch.

New Georgetown, GISD partnership could last to 2064

For the next 20 years, the city and Georgetown ISD will work together under established procedures, processes, development standards and fee structures that will provide cost-effective and efficient development for future school sites in city limits and in the extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Georgetown budget, tax rate set on first reading

Georgetown will have a $842.6 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and will operate with a property tax rate of 36.47 cents per $100 assessed valuation. Both numbers were approved by city council on first reading Tuesday, August 27.

P&Z chair violated rules, Ethics Commission says

Georgetown’s Ethics Commission has found that Planning and Zoning Commission Chair Stephen Dickey violated three sections of the city’s Ethics Ordinance regarding the Lookout Ridge development near the Teravista neighborhood, which received city council approval in April.
