Annual Georgetown sculpture tour winners announced

The Georgetown Arts and Culture Board awarded Tim Glover the first prize award in the 2022-2023 Sculpture Tour for his piece “Whirlwind.” His sculpture features a bird and a horn toad perched atop a twister.

More animal shelter space needed in Georgetown

Recognizing the Georgetown Animal Shelter’s limited capacity amid an influx of animals in need, city leaders are evaluating possible partnerships and avenues for a new facility. Members of city council and staff discussed the issue during a November 22 workshop.

Georgetown City Council approved rezoning requests and special use permits for several incoming developments during its November 22 meeting. Projects include an outdoor food vendor venue along Austin Avenue, a single-family subdivision and a townhome development.

Georgetown finalizes Courthouse View Corridor waiver process

Georgetown will allow developers to apply for waivers to the city’s Courthouse View Corridor restrictions following a November 22 city council decision. The waiver process was approved with amendments upon second reading.
