Georgetown resident recalls 1951 championship run with OU Sooners

In the summer of 1951, Georgetown resident Bill Harrah headed to Omaha, Nebraska, as a junior second baseman for the University of Oklahoma’s baseball team.

Round Rock student, programmer starts nonprofit to better the world

Tech entrepreneur, inventor, speaker, author and, most recently, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founder — 12-year-old Arjun Sharda of Round Rock has it all and he’s just getting started.

Senior University approaches 25 years

Senior University is looking ahead at celebrating its 25th anniversary on September 19. A nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization based in Georgetown, Senior University provides opportunities for adults to broaden their horizons and learn from local experts on various subjects.

John’s Gym is home to award-winning juvenile jiu jitsu team in Georgetown

By ASHLYNN DELIAS John’s Gym is an Austin-based jiu jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts facility that opened its Georgetown location on Shell Road in 2012. Aside from holding classes in MMA and both kids and adult jiu jitsu, John’s Gym has its own award-winning elite team that competes in tournaments.
