Donations help lower lunch debts of GISD students

Donations from Christ Lutheran Church and the Georgetown branch of A+ Federal Credit Union will go toward paying off lunch balances for a number of Georgetown ISD students, the district announced April 4. Christ Lutheran raised $2,360 from parishioners’ donations. A+ FCU donated $1,000.

Retiring Georgetown ISD superintendent takes new job at Sport Clips

Georgetown ISD superintendent Fred Brent to retire June 30

Fred Brent, superintendent of Georgetown ISD since 2014, said Monday, April 3, he will officially retire from the district on June 30. He plans to serve in an advisory capacity as “superintendent emeritus” from May 1 to June 30. Mr.

Former Trustee Marcos Gonzalez seeks Place 4 board seat

Marcos Gonzalez, who served as a Georgetown ISD school trustee from 2018-21, wants back on the school board and is running for Place 4 in the May 6 election against incumbent Stephanie Blanck. “I learned a lot from the first go-round,” Mr. Gonzalez told the Sun this week.

Future Georgetown ISD trustee Anthony Blankenship says his goal is unity

Anthony Blankenship — an author, medical professional, Army veteran and Georgetown parent — will take a seat on the GISD Board of Trustees in May.  Mr. Blankenship is running unopposed for Place 5 in the May 6 election. The position is being vacated by three-term trustee Melanie Connor.
