Georgetown learns of ‘pain points’ for residents

Since Georgetown launched its 311-style system, askGTX, in May, the city has received about 2,400 support tickets on issues such as flickering lights, uneven sidewalks, roadkill and intersection improvements. Traffic complaints and signal issues are among the most common submissions.

Have you ever seen a large, brightly colored vehicle leaving the Georgetown Public Library parking lot? It is likely one of two library outreach vehicles!Currently, the library operates the Words on Wheels Bookmobile (which we call the WOW!) and the Home Delivery van (or WOW:HD).

Downtown parking garage gets two art installations

The northside of the downtown parking garage will feature a mural from American graffiti artist Ryan Christenson, who is professionally known as ARCY. According to the city, the mural will highlight Georgetown’s history and present, with flora and fauna and cattle from the Chisholm Trail days.

Suspect in Georgetown triple homicide arrested on capital murder charges

Georgetown resident Raul Franco Jr., 26, has been charged with capital murder in connection with the September 13 deaths of residents Doneshia Brooks, 39; Alonzo Hawkins, 34; and Olivia Brooks, 8.Judge Donna King of the 26th District Court issued the arrest warrant for Mr. Franco on September 26.

The sale of portions of Georgetown’s water district is moving forward as city staff begin receiving responses from neighboring cities about purchasing Georgetown’s water service territory located in other cities’ extraterritorial jurisdictions.
