Warming Shelters open in Wilco during cold snap

Georgetown's San Gabriel Unitarian Universalist Fellowship warming shelter opened Wednesday, February 19 and will be open until 9 a.m. on Saturday to help while a cold front drops temperatures into the 20s and lower 30s.  In Taylor, a similar shelter opened in St.

Wastewater package plants spring resident concerns

Danette Ray’s property off State Highway 29 in West Georgetown has open space and native grasses near the San Gabriel River. With wildlife easement on her property, she conserves the land for the golden-cheeked warblers – a bird that’s currently on the endangered species list. Ms.

New residential communities spring up in Williamson County

Several master-planned residential projects across Williamson County began new phases of construction in February. The projects range from community amenity centers to new homes available to rent or buy.

Texan Cory Morrow headlines Georgetown Red Poppy Festival

Texas country singer-songwriter Cory Morrow will headline Georgetown’s 26th annual Red Poppy Festival on Saturday, April 26. The country artist is known for songs like “The Man I’ve Been,” “Texas on My Mind” and “Always and Forever.”Mr. Morrow’s performance is from 8:30-10 p.m.

Community effort needed to address homelessness

Homelessness is not something that law enforcement or local government can address on their own, and Georgetown Police Chief Cory Tchida said it takes a community effort to find humane and moral solutions that can help the unhoused population. On February 6, Mr.

Georgetown, Williamson County gains new coroner facility starting September

Autopsy provider Hill County Forensics broke ground on a new facility in North Georgetown near Berry Springs Park, February 6.Originally located on Rockride Lane in Georgetown, the company will open an expanded facility at 136 Market Street.

Georgetown association maintains Black history, brings people together

In the 1970s, a group of volunteers came together as the The Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association to take care of the Afro-American Citizens Memorial Garden Cemetery on Memorial Drive.
