The Georgetown Palace Theatre opened Funny Little Thing Called Love June 21 on the Playhouse Stage. The play is written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten. The trio specialize in writing light theater comedies with strong roles for women.

County cities gain revenue, new sales tax report finds

The Texas Comptroller has released the updated sales tax data for June 2024.  For cities across the county, most saw an increase in revenues when compared to 2023’s numbers. Most notably Liberty Hill gained 81.77 percent more in profit, earning over $575,000.

Georgetown man gets life in prison for murder

Georgetown man Ricardo Quinones, 39, pled guilty on Thursday to the shooting death of his wife, Lindsey Whitman, 31. Mr. Quinones will serve life in prison, according to the district attorney’s office. He was originally indicted by a grand jury on the charge of capital murder.

Escape the heat with annual Blazin’ Beer Crawl

Tickets for the 2024 Blazin’ Beer Crawl on the Square are now on sale, with both VIP and General Admission options. Both ticket options are for those 21 and up, identification will be checked at pickup. The event, which takes place on Saturday, August 3, from 3-6 p.m.

Real estate market report:

In May, the Austin-Round Rock-Georgetown MSA saw a 12.8 percent decline in closed listings, with 4.9 months of available inventory, a level that hasn’t been seen in 13 years according to the latest Central Texas Housing Report released by the Austin Board of Realtors.
