Fire blackens 21.5 acres in Jarrell

A grass fire caused by a vehicle fire burned an estimated 21 acres in Jarrell Friday afternoon. According to the Texas A&M Wildfire Service, the fire is now 100 percent contained.  The Interstate 35 southbound frontage road was closed during the fire from Ronald Reagan Boulevard to County Road 143.

East Wilco issues Stage 2 water restrictions

The Brazos River Authority has notified the City of Taylor that it is implementing a Stage 2 Drought Warning for the East Williamson County Regional Water System at Lake Granger.

Jarrell American Legion gets first female commander

Joe Kott American Legion Post 317 elected Mary Semek as the group’s new commander in July. She is the first woman to serve in that position for the group.  Commander Semek is an army veteran who lives in Jarrell. She completed her basic training at Fort Ord, California.

New nature preserve set to open in Jarrell this fall

Hill Country Conservancy is opening a nature preserve in northern Williamson County after an anonymous landowner donated 1,205 acres to the nonprofit. Named the Pecan Springs Karst Preserve, the property is five miles west of Jarrell.

Ubiquity expands fiber to Liberty Hill
