The Brazos River Authority has notified the City of Taylor that it is implementing a Stage 2 Drought Warning for the East Williamson County Regional Water System at Lake Granger.

Jarrell American Legion gets first female commander

Joe Kott American Legion Post 317 elected Mary Semek as the group’s new commander in July. She is the first woman to serve in that position for the group.
Commander Semek is an army veteran who lives in Jarrell. She completed her basic training at Fort Ord, California.

New nature preserve set to open in Jarrell this fall

Hill Country Conservancy is opening a nature preserve in northern Williamson County after an anonymous landowner donated 1,205 acres to the nonprofit.
Named the Pecan Springs Karst Preserve, the property is five miles west of Jarrell.

In the July 2023 report, sales tax generated in Georgetown decreased by 1.15 percent when compared to July 2023.

Ubiquity expands fiber to Liberty Hill

Ubiquity, the infrastructure investment firm which broke ground in Georgetown last May in an effort to help provide the city with an open-access fiber system that will help residents receive better internet service, is expanding into other cities and areas in Williamson County.

Jarrell’s Sonterra Municipal Utility District coordinated truck-mounted mosquito spraying June 25-26 after a sample of mosquitoes collected in the community tested positive for West Nile Virus on June 23.
