This week, the United States of America celebrates 250 years of independence, and groups across Williamson County are hosting patriotic activities, fireworks and more.

July 4 brings city, county closures

Williamson County offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. All county operations will resume on Friday, July 5.  According to the news release from the county, residents may utilize online services that are offered by various departments at www.wilcotx.

Fireworks illegal in Georgetown

Despite their popularity during the summer months, fireworks can pose a danger when not handled with care. As well as causing personal injuries and property damage, according to the National Fire Protection Association, fireworks are the cause of an average of 19,500 fires every year.
