Sales tax increases overall in county in newest report

Kicking off the new year, most of the cities in the county have seen increased revenue when comparing sales tax from January 2023 to January 2024.    Most notably, Taylor’s sales tax grew over 100 percent, allowing the city to rank in over $3.3 million.

Hutto  Tesla has expanded into Hutto. The automotive company is occupying an industrial building located on 200 County Road 199. According to the Texas Department of Licencing and Regulation, the company plans for the $1.5 million renovation to “accommodate new tenant's equipment.

Austin Community College officials suggest free tuition for incoming freshmen

As the old joke goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Let alone a free education. Students in higher education dream of graduating with little to no debt to their name. Now Austin Community College might make that dream come true.

County park shines with new light fixtures, ribbon-cutting

Williamson County held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the sports fields and courts lighting project completion at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park in Leander on December 12.

Unemployment decreases across county

The Texas Workforce Commission released updated unemployment numbers for Central Texas counties for October 2023.  In October, unemployment in Williamson County decreased to 3.5 percent after spending two months at 3.7 percent.

Celebrate Diwali in Leander

he Deerbrooke Community of Leander invites the community to a Diwali Gala at the Deerbrooke Clubhouse on 927 Deer Rim Road on November 19 at 6:30 p.m.    Diwali is the Hindu Festival of Lights. In many South Asian cultures, it celebrates the spiritual triumph of light over darkness.

Leander’s website gets a facelift

The City of Leander will launch a new website on November 6. The new website will be user-friendly and will allow residents and other users to better access information and services from any device, including cell phones, according to the city.

Kerplunkin’ pumpkins

The City of Leander’s Parks and Recreation will host its Floating Pumpkin Patch at the Robin Bledsoe Pool from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 14.
