Comptroller publishes February sales tax data

The Texas Comptroller released updated sales tax data for February 2024.     When looking at the data, Liberty Hill brought in 58.60 percent less in sales tax revenues when compared to February 2023. On the other side of the county, Taylor brought in 56.51 percent more in sales tax revenues.

Liberty Hill Mayor resigns, effective March 1

Liberty Hill Mayor Liz Branigan announced she will be stepping down from office during the city’s January 24 city council meeting.   She submitted her resignation “citing medical and scheduling issues,” according to city documents.

Liberty Hill Bypass begins construction

Williamson County and the City of Liberty Hill gathered Friday, January 26, for the launch of the Liberty Hill Bypass project.

Sales tax increases overall in county in newest report

Kicking off the new year, most of the cities in the county have seen increased revenue when comparing sales tax from January 2023 to January 2024.    Most notably, Taylor’s sales tax grew over 100 percent, allowing the city to rank in over $3.3 million.

County Briefs

Hutto  Tesla has expanded into Hutto. The automotive company is occupying an industrial building located on 200 County Road 199. According to the Texas Department of Licencing and Regulation, the company plans for the $1.5 million renovation to “accommodate new tenant's equipment.

County Road 258 extension near Liberty Hill now open

Williamson County and Liberty Hill ISD officials celebrated the completion of the CR 258 extension on Thursday, January. 4, after a year of construction. The project constructed a new two-lane roadway from US 183 to Sunset Ridge Drive and included a connection at Questa Trail.    The $5.

Liberty Hill ISD pitches in for Brown Santa

Liberty Hill City Council met to discuss administrative maintenance for city facilities and new zoning ordinances on November 29 at the Liberty Hill Municipal Court.

Blue Corn Harvest Bar and Grill will open a new restaurant in Round Rock. The locally owned restaurant —  which originally opened in Cedar Park in 2012 — is a member of Go Texan which helps promote local farmers and businesses in the casual Southwestern-style menu.

Unemployment decreases across county

The Texas Workforce Commission released updated unemployment numbers for Central Texas counties for October 2023.  In October, unemployment in Williamson County decreased to 3.5 percent after spending two months at 3.7 percent.
