From strategic planning to reviewing applicants for an executive assistant, Rebecca Clemons — Wilco’s newly appointed county manager — has hit the ground running in her first month in her new role.

Jail update expected by 2030

 Williamson County commissioners could hire a program manager to head an effort to update and expand the county jail and justice center in downtown Georgetown.

County split over DA’s funding transfers

 Williamson County District Attorney's Office requested funding for two new positions during the October 15 Commissioners Court meeting. A public hearing was held about a request to transfer additional funding for a new Felony Prosecutor III position for $21,742.23, according to county documents.

Williamson County gives $2 million tax abatement

 Another South Korean company will come to Williamson County, following the path set by Samsung. Soulbrain —  a South Korean-based corporation that provides chemical production use in the semiconductor process — is the latest company to strike a tax abatement deal with Williamson County.

Williamson County adds personnel to CPS caseworkers

Williamson County previews plans for $18 M property

 On Friday, Williamson County elected officials and department heads gathered at Staccato Ranch in Florence to review the county’s strategic plan while receiving leadership training.

Money matters: Williamson County Commissioners OKs $635 million county budget

 The average Williamson County homestead will pay approximately $191.45 more in county property taxes for Fiscal Year 2025. Williamson County Commissioners Tuesday, August 27, approved the FY 2025 budget, with expenses set at  $635,129,938. The new tax rate was set at 39.

Williamson County evaluating jail expansion, rework

The Williamson County Commissioners Court will implement a plan to provide short-term space to the Williamson County Jail beginning in October. Commissioner Valerie Covey Tuesday, August 20, discussed expanding the county jail and Justice Center to accommodate Wilco’s growing population.

Williamson County Commissioners deliberate death investigator role in budget workshop

  For the second week in a row, Williamson County budget talks August 13 greatly focused on a request from Wilco’s four justices of the peace, who have asked for support to alleviate the growing demand that death inquests put on their offices.
