Williamson County sues Cameron County Housing Finance Corporation to block tax exempt projects

In response to what Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell called “one of the most egregious acts against the children of Williamson County,” Wilco has sued Cameron County Housing Finance Corporation for allegedly violating the Texas Housing Finance Corporations Act.

Nonprofits line the Square for Amplify Wilco, Wednesday

More than a dozen Williamson County nonprofits are partnering with Georgetown businesses to kick off Amplify Wilco Day on the Square, Wednesday, March 5, from 5-8 p.m.

County Commissioners add buffer for ‘scam’ affordable housing

A Housing Finance Corporation based in Cameron County is trying to designate two new apartment properties near Hutto as “affordable housing” in an effort to take the property off of Hutto ISD’s tax roll.

New residential communities spring up in Williamson County

Several master-planned residential projects across Williamson County began new phases of construction in February. The projects range from community amenity centers to new homes available to rent or buy.

Grants could support new sheriff equipment, trainings

Sheriff Matt Lindemann is pursuing federal grants to help fund the Sheriff’s Office’s Victim Services Unit and new body armor for deputies.

Williamson County Commissioners combine budgets for new HQ

The new Williamson County Headquarters project will cost an estimated $79.4 million, according to the Consolidated Guaranteed Maximum Price approved by commissioners February 11. Chasco Constructors is the contractor for the project.

Georgetown, Williamson County gains new coroner facility starting September

Autopsy provider Hill County Forensics broke ground on a new facility in North Georgetown near Berry Springs Park, February 6.Originally located on Rockride Lane in Georgetown, the company will open an expanded facility at 136 Market Street.

Commissioners divided on court admin salary

Williamson County Commissioners were at odds Tuesday, February 4, when deciding on a salary level for a new Director of District Court Administration position within the All-District Courts department.

Get ready for Amplify Wilco

Amplify Wilco Day will generate funds for dozens of Williamson County nonprofit organizations this year March 5-6. Coordinated by I Live Here I Give Here, the fundraising campaign will benefit more than 70 Williamson County-serving nonprofits.
