Williamson County officials talk about winter weather planning

Weather is unpredictable in Central Texas; that is nothing new. With the recent July floods and blackouts becoming more frequent during freezes, residents can prepare ahead for the possible winter dangers.

Williamson County to debut suicide survivor support program

Williamson County is launching a program to support individuals and families affected by suicide. Wilco’s senior death inquest investigator Ruben Leal joined Angela Williams, Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, during the December 9 Commissioners Court meeting to explain the L.O.S.S.

3 roads ready to go

Williamson County officials celebrated multiple road project completions with ribbon-cutting ceremonies at the beginning of December. The projects — located in the northwest, north and northeast portions of the county — aim to improve mobility for residents.

Historic Williamson County jail for sale

Georgetown’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved a rezoning request from Williamson County for the historic jail property at 102 West Third Street, across the street from 309 Coffee.

Deputy County Clerk files for County Clerk race

Bill Fairbrother has formally declared his candidacy for Williamson County Clerk in the 2026 Republican Primary election and has submitted his application on December 7.

Science will try to save Southwestern's historic Story Tree

The famous and majestic live oak Story Tree is located on the Southwestern University campus in Georgetown. This tree has partially succumbed to the effects of its age, pathogenic fungi, bacterial infections, and who knows what over its 100 years of life.

29-year-old receives double sentence for child sexual assault

A Williamson County jury found 29-year-old Javier Garcia of Georgetown guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact on November 19.

$8 million raised so far for flood victims

The Central Texas Community Foundation this year has already distributed about $3.35 million in direct financial support to more than 100 residents impacted by the July 5 floods.

Williamson County prosecutor enters district judge race

Williamson County forms group to bolster long-term water supply

Williamson County officials officially launched what they say will be a long-term water solution for the region. County commissioners allocated $500,000 for a Williamson County Water Study on November 25. The goal, according to the agenda, is to have a water solution in place for the next 50 years.
