Georgetown says to avoid water at Blue Hole, San Gabriel parks after line failure sends wastewater into river

On January 5 at 10 a.m., City of Georgetown Water Utility crews discovered a major wastewater line failure at the Wolf Ranch lift station. The 42-inch wastewater line is located in the south fork of the San Gabriel River, about a quarter mile west of I-35 and behind the Wolf Ranch shopping center.

Photos: Rising San Gabriel River closes Austin Avenue bridge

Rain this week has caused the San Gabriel River to rise up to meet the Austin Avenue Bridge. According to the City of Georgetown, the river may rise over 30 feet. These photos were taken at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and the bridge was closed by Georgetown Police at 10:53 a.m.

Lights spilt out from the windows of Grace Heritage Center on a not-so-typical Tuesday night. A packed crowd murmurs in small-talk conversation while munching on self-assembled charcuterie in the historic church, eagerly waiting for the evening’s presentation.

San Gabriel River fish kill sparks concern

The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality is investigating the water quality in the San Gabriel River after dozens of fish turned up dead east of Georgetown during the last week of November.

Native American roots along the San Gabriel River go back more than 10,000 years

The long history of Native Americans in Williamson County came to life March 24 during a walk-and-learn along the San Gabriel River. The tour guide was Georgetown resident and historian Helen Cordes. About 70 history buffs joined the tour in morning and afternoon sessions.
