County cities gain revenue, new sales tax report finds

The Texas Comptroller has released the updated sales tax data for June 2024. For cities across the county, most saw an increase in revenues when compared to 2023’s numbers. Most notably Liberty Hill gained 81.77 percent more in profit, earning over $575,000.

Comptroller publishes February sales tax data

The Texas Comptroller released updated sales tax data for February 2024.
When looking at the data, Liberty Hill brought in 58.60 percent less in sales tax revenues when compared to February 2023. On the other side of the county, Taylor brought in 56.51 percent more in sales tax revenues.

Sales tax increases overall in county in newest report

Kicking off the new year, most of the cities in the county have seen increased revenue when comparing sales tax from January 2023 to January 2024.
Most notably, Taylor’s sales tax grew over 100 percent, allowing the city to rank in over $3.3 million.

Unemployment decreases across county

The Texas Workforce Commission released updated unemployment numbers for Central Texas counties for October 2023.
In October, unemployment in Williamson County decreased to 3.5 percent after spending two months at 3.7 percent.

Thrall Diner has ties to community

The old WW2 barracks between the train tracks and U.S. Highway 79 in Thrall has been used for many things over the years, but now serves as the home of Thrall Diner.
“The story that I heard is that after the war, the government gave these buildings to churches,” Restaurant Co-Owner Jodie Wolf said.
