In this proposal, West Seventh and Eighth streets would be converted into one-way roads between Rock and Church Streets. Traffic on Eighth would travel east, while Seventh would travel west. Additionally, parking on the Square is maintained on the courthouse side of the road, while the existing parking in front of businesses is replaced by a widened pedestrian area. Dedicated turn lanes are also added at the Austin Avenue intersections with Seventh and Eighth.

Downtown Georgetown Conversion: Are we sure this would work?

As of Monday afternoon, we are waiting to see what tomorrow brings at the polls. But today, we’ve heard lots of complaints about what everyone says is a chaotic, and indefensible, arrangement of precincts and voting locations. I’m cool since I vote at city hall, and I know where it is.

If you look closely at the photo that accompanies this article you will see a field of bluebonnets in front of a white limestone house in Georgetown....in March! That home happens to be ours, and so are the bluebonnets.

Cook's Corner: A dip, two drinks and new noodle dish

This week I have two recipes, as promised, from the Mardi Gras dinner recently, plus two more that may seem familiar but are new to me at least!This dip is made of hot-smoked salmon (available at the grocery store) and is candied a bit to give it the most wonderful flavor.

Wilco Extension Office: Solving crepe murder

I look forward to seeing the fabulous summer blooms from the monoculture of crepe myrtle trees in front of the stark condos here in Georgetown. I enjoy the eye-level canopy of bright pinkish blooms from just outside of my second-floor apartment patio.
