“I was driving a tractor when I was 7-years-old,” farmer Larry Svehlak mentioned while I rode along in his combine this week.  Mr. Svehlak, 70, is a Granger native who’s lived in Taylor for decades. He’s tilled the soil for a long time, but he’s retiring after finishing this year’s corn harvest.

This week I have three new recipes that were generously shared with me by friends and are perfect for hot weather cooking.   This first salad uses a rotisserie chicken and microwavable rice to make it even quicker and easier, but you can cook your own chicken and rice if you prefer it.

This week I have three new recipes for baking. Two of them were made last week by Nora and Miles, my grandchildren who live in The Woodlands. Son Collin is really good at taking the time to teach them cooking skills, and baking is high on their list.
