Halstrom and his wife JoAnne, a Wimberley couple, purchased the early-1900s church in late-2019. Robert has been working on the church since then, with plans to eventually transform it into an event venue. The work slowed after his wife was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in spring 2022, but the work continues.
