Volunteer to clean up San Gabriel Park

Two park clean-up events will take place at San Gabriel Park on Tuesday, July 29, and Thursday, July 31, for those wanting to provide a helping hand. The event on July 29 will take place from 9-11 a.m. The July 31 event will be from 4-6 p.m.

After 82 years, a hero is coming home

Never is an incredibly strong word. Never is an infinitely long time. Yet, after 82 years, First Lieutenant Charles Woodruff McCook’s homecoming has only been delayed. Thanks to scientific minds and patriotic hearts, it will no longer be denied.Friends and family called him Woody.

Have a meow-velous time at the library

August 6 is in line to be one of the cutest days of the year, as kittens will return to the Georgetown Public Library. Dozens of adoptable kittens will be available for $35 at the library in support of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Strings and Things: Independence Day musical celebrations are county wide

Williamson County is home to a multitude of live music genres from rock and country to classical and symphonic. Find your favorite places to enjoy the tunes and voices of local musicians and bands during this year’s numerous Independence Day celebrations including MARS.

Presidents, Independence Day celebrations and Georgetown events

Independence Day is a time to reflect and give thanks for our freedoms. The holiday began with the Declaration of Independence from Great Britain in 1776.It’s been a federal holiday since 1941.

Juneteenth celebrations happening this weekend

Georgetown’s 73rd annual Juneteenth celebration will include a photo exhibit, live entertainment, a parade and a historical marker unveiling over the next week. Some events are a partnership between the city and the Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association.
