BIBLIOFILES: December activities to check out at the Georgetown Public Library
The Georgetown Public Library is wrapping up 2025 with events for all ages during the month of December.
Families can join us on Saturday, December 6, from 2-4 p.m. for “Snow Much Fun!” Find your inner penguin at the dance party or enjoy playing winter games and making crafts. This come and go event will fit in perfectly as a stop before or after your day at the Christmas Stroll.
On December 7, at 1 p.m. Ken Stubert will present the fourth and final session in the “Let’s Write a Book” writing series, presented by the San Gabriel Writers’ League. “Let’s Get Published” will explore traditional, hybrid, and self-publishing methods, including the advantages and disadvantages of each. This session is free and open to the public and no advance registration is needed.
Tweens and teens are invited to join us on Saturday, December 13. Kawaii Crafts and Sugoi Snacks will take place at 1 p.m. for tweens (ages 9-12). Make kawaii (cute) crafts and eat sugoi (sweet) snacks while watching classic anime. At 3 p.m. the library will host Anime Day for teens (ages 12-18), where they can watch classic anime, eat candy sushi, make origami and color.
Live Music at the Library will take place on Sunday, December 14 at 2 p.m., which is a week earlier than usual. Swing Shift will close out this season with jazz and holiday standards. Live Music is made possible through a gift from the Friends of the Georgetown Public Library and all ages are welcome to attend.
Our new adult matinee movie program, Keepin’ it Reel, will conclude its first year with a showing of The Boys in the Boat at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16. This film is rated PG-13 and intended for ages 18 and older.
From December 22 through the end of the year, the library closes early at 6 p.m. on weekdays. There are also no storytimes during this period. However, we will show two movies in the Kid’s Room. Join us on Tuesday, December 23, for Kiki’s Delivery Service (rated G) and Bad Guys 2 (rated PG) on Tuesday, December 30. Both movies will start at 2 p.m.
The end of the year is busy for everyone, so we hope you can take some time out of your schedule to join us. See you soon at the library!
