Adults hone artistic skills this summer

A series of summer workshops hosted by the Georgetown Arts and Culture Program will be offered at the Georgetown Art Center between July 21 and August 11. There are four different classes geared toward those ages 18 and older. Classes range from $75 to $120 per session.

Find out which streetlights are out with new city service

The City of Georgetown launched a new website tool that allows residents to report streetlight outages. The tool, which can be found online at https://bit.ly/GTXstreetlightoutagereporting, allows residents to see a map of all city streetlights and report if a certain streetlight isn’t working.

Williamson County approves $2.27 million in community grants

Over the course of two commissioners court meetings, Wilco officials have analyzed community needs and discussed grant opportunities. On June 25, they accepted $2.27 million in United States Department of Housing and Urban Development grants as part of the effort.

Last week, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office closed two different drug cases across Central Texas.On June 12, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, alongside SWAT and K9 units, executed a search warrant at 417 East Rio Grande Street. in Taylor.

County cities gain revenue, new sales tax report finds

The Texas Comptroller has released the updated sales tax data for June 2024. For cities across the county, most saw an increase in revenues when compared to 2023’s numbers. Most notably Liberty Hill gained 81.77 percent more in profit, earning over $575,000.

County Briefs: Commissioners divided on landfill fees

Waste Management — which runs the county’s landfill — will increase typing fees by 6 percent, or $3, effective August 1. According to county documents, the previous price of $49.90 per ton will increase to $52.90 per ton.

Georgetown man gets life in prison for murder

Georgetown man Ricardo Quinones, 39, pled guilty on Thursday to the shooting death of his wife, Lindsey Whitman, 31. Mr. Quinones will serve life in prison, according to the district attorney’s office. He was originally indicted by a grand jury on the charge of capital murder.
