County promotes elder abuse awareness

By 2034, adults 65 and older will outnumber younger people for the first time in U.S. history, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.   With 19 senior living communities and an estimated one-third of Georgetown's population over the age of 65, elder abuse will become more prevalent.

County awarded for employee mental health policies

The Bell Seal recognizes employer advances in workplace mental health by awarding Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum recognition levels. Williamson County announced that Mental Health America was awarded a 2024 Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health during the June 18 Commissioners Court meeting.

Escape the heat with annual Blazin’ Beer Crawl

Tickets for the 2024 Blazin’ Beer Crawl on the Square are now on sale, with both VIP and General Admission options. Both ticket options are for those 21 and up, identification will be checked at pickup. The event, which takes place on Saturday, August 3, from 3-6 p.m.

County Briefs: Williamson County observes Juneteenth with office closures

Williamson County offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. All county operations will resume regular hours on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Williamson County district judge joins Court of Appeals

With the newly formed Business Court in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott recently announced his appointment of three justices to the Fifteenth Court of Appeals on June 11.   Williamson County’s 480th Judicial District Court Judge Scott K. Field will serve as Justice, Place 2.

Real estate market report:

In May, the Austin-Round Rock-Georgetown MSA saw a 12.8 percent decline in closed listings, with 4.9 months of available inventory, a level that hasn’t been seen in 13 years according to the latest Central Texas Housing Report released by the Austin Board of Realtors.
