County Briefs: Wilco resident survey to gather feedback on county services

Williamson County residents will be randomly selected to participate in a survey. During the July 16 Commissioners Court meeting, officials approved the survey to “help improve the delivery of County services and programs,” according to the survey.

Georgetown resident guilty after selling drugs while out on bond

A Williamson County jury on Monday, July 15, found Eric Lon Jones, 31, of Georgetown guilty of delivery of methamphetamine. The following day, the jury sentenced Mr. Jones to 45 years in prison with a $10,000 fine after they heard additional evidence during sentencing. Mr.

Rising Georgetown High School senior Kamrin Gordon and 2024 GHS graduates Elizabeth McCallum and Brayden Boff earned the Outstanding Performer Award at the 2024 Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest for solos in Voice, Harp and Timpani, respectively.The competition was held May 25 and 27.

Laundry Love Georgetown is now working with The Caring Place to provide residents with its free laundry cleanings. Laundry Love Georgetown has offered free laundry services since 2013 at the Georgetown Washtopia on South Austin Avenue on the second Tuesday and Thursday of each month.

Georgetown teen charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping

A shooting and alleged kidnapping in Leander has led to five arrests, including Matthew Sabedra, 19, of Georgetown, who was taken into custody on July 11 by U.S. Marshals at his Georgetown residence.

Ballot talks continue as November election approaches

Williamson County will be moving to pre-numbered paper ballots this November election, but some county residents continue to advocate that a voting system involving hand-marked, hand-counted, paper-ballots at a precinct-level would be the safest option for a secure election.
