Blue Sage Clothiers offers rock-n-roll, Western styles

Just off the Square

“One of my favorite things is to help somebody realize that they are beautiful just as they are,” said Kim Cauble, owner of Blue Sage Clothiers.

Blue Sage Clothiers is celebrating one year of being open next door to Western Blonde Salon, at 806 South Myrtle Street. From fringe skirts to turquoise jewelry and cowgirl hats, Ms. Cauble described the store as being “a little bit rock ‘n roll and a little bit Western.”

After she closed her spa business after the pandemic hit in 2020, she opened up Blue Sage Clothiers as an online store.

“[I figured that] everybody else must be sitting at home shopping online like I am,” she said. The inking she had was correct; she went on to open up a small shop in Taylor and then moved down to Georgetown.

“I’ve always wanted to be here in Georgetown, and it’s just been wonderful. I’m so appreciative of the response I've gotten,” she said.

Although the store is a bit tucked away from the Square, there is a big glass garage door showing off the Western wear merchandise. When the weather is nice, they keep it open.

“People drive by and they’re like ‘Woah what’s that?’ and they come on in,” Ms. Cauble said. “I love having customers come in and say: “Just dress me.”

Ms. Cauble said she loves helping people step outside the box and wear something they wouldn’t normally wear.

“You can wear that, you can look beautiful in it,” Ms. Cauble tells her customers. “Let’s style it the right way and see what we can do.”

Ms. Cauble said men enjoy being in the store as well. “My leather chair in the corner has been voted ‘best chair in Georgetown’ by at least five husbands,” she joked.

Next door, Western Blonde Salon is owned by Shalene Scarborough. The salon offers haircuts, color, highlights, balayage and extensions. They also offer waxing and permanent makeup— including powder brows, combo brows and microblading. The salon offers these services for customers of all budgets; they have ten licensed professional hair stylists who are at different levels of expertise.

“The owner [Shalene Scarborough] says: You can go anywhere to get your hair done, but having an experience when you get your hair done is important,” said Alexis Fernardez, the social media manager at Western Blonde Salon.
