Staccato — an award-winning, Florence-based manufacturer of high-performance pistols for both law enforcement and civilians — opened an 800-acre shooting ranch on County Road 233 earlier this year. The company hopes it will one day will have the reputation of being the “Disneyland of shooting.

Georgetown Sertoma — a loose acronym for “Service to Mankind” — has been serving the local community for 45 years.The group is a part of the international Sertoma Inc. a large nonprofit organization of charity clubs that was chartered in 1912.

 Cotton Country Club dancehall and restaurant in Granger is celebrating their 25 anniversary this year. The club was originally founded by Bubba Cox in 1999, and after a few changes in ownership, was most recently purchased in 2022 by Emily and Chris Hamilton.

Camp Briteside opens, draws crowd in Northwest Georgetown

Camp Briteside —  a new restaurant, bar and outdoor space located on 8701 Ranch Road 2338 — held a grand opening Sunday, September 1. According to owner Cody Hirt, about 650 people visited for the opening event. At 3 p.m., usually a slow time for restaurants, Camp Briteside was on a two hour wait.

Sun City naturalist’s home garden stars in upcoming PBS Show

Sun City Resident Martin Byhower and his native garden will be featured on the Central Texas Gardener show on PBS Station KRLU on October 19 at noon and 4 p.m. and on October 20 at 9 a.m. The Central Texas Gardener show is the longest running show on PBS.

Up the road on Williams Drive, Camp Briteside is creating a new restaurant, bar and outdoor space for residents in Northwest Georgetown. Located on a 54-acre property at 8701 Ranch Road 2338, the business will have a grand opening this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Georgetown Fire Department Pipes and Drums revives after covid

 The Georgetown Fire Department Pipes and Drums will perform one of their first major events since the Covid-19 pandemic on September 11.Assistant Chief Jeff Davis, the pipe major of the band, currently leads eight pipers, who include firefighters and two police officers.
