New three-story building headed downtown

A groundbreaking ceremony for a three-story mixed-use building on the corner of Sixth Street and Austin Avenue occurred Thursday, February 22.

Color the sky with kites at Garey Park

Bring your kite to color the sky at Garey Park with the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department’s Color the Sky Kite Day on March 24.  The event will be held on in the meadow of Garey Park, 6450 RM 2243, from 1-4 p.m. Attendees will have to pay the park entrance fee.

GISD to hold Bond Election info sessions

Georgetown ISD will hold a series of information sessions about its May 4 $649.5 million Bond Election. Superintendent Devin Padavil will discuss facility needs related to district growth, aging facilities, technology, fine arts and athletics. Info sessions will be held at 6 p.m.

Stacy McLaughlin readies for GISD board service

As the sole candidate for Place 7 on the Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees,   Stacy McLaughlin is preparing to take a seat on the trustee dais in May. “I believe I can make an impact on my school district and community,” she said about her desire to serve as a trustee.

Amplify Wilco boosts fundraising opportunities for local nonprofits

I Live Here I Give Here will have its first Amplify Wilco Day in tandem with Amplify Austin Day March 6-7. The event is set to benefit 65 nonprofits in Williamson County. According to the press release, it could contribute an estimated 10 percent of the year’s nonprofit participation.

Georgetown High School boys win 5A State swim meet for second year in a row

Competing against 50 other schools on the highest stage, Georgetown High School boys swimmers came out on top this weekend in the Class 5A University Interscholastic League  finals. The swim event took place this weekend, February 23-24, at the University of Texas at Austin.
