Habitual offender sentenced to 25 years on drug charge

A Williamson County jury convicted Christopher James Hernandez, 37, Georgetown, of possession of methamphetamine — a third-degree felony — on Monday, December 11. After the jury’s unanimous verdict, Mr. Hernandez was sentenced to 25 years in prison, based on his prior criminal history. Mr.

Williamson County offices close for holidays beginning December 25

Williamson County offices will be closed for the Christmas holiday on Monday, December 25, Tuesday, December 26, and January 1, 2024, for the New Year’s holiday.    According to the press release, Commissioners Court will not meet on Tuesday, December 26, or on Tuesday, January 2.

Williamson County prosecutor honored by Children’s Advocacy Center

Williamson County District Attorney Ryan Bownds received the Prosecution MVP Award from the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center Multidisciplinary Team on December 6. The award recognizes his outstanding efforts in pursuing justice for child victims of abuse and neglect.

New Williams Drive bridge intersection to open later this month

The construction on the Williams Drive bridge over Interstate 35 will be “substantially complete’’ by the end of the month, according to Bradley Wheelis, communications director for Texas Department of Transportation.

Williamson County reenacts tax abatement guidelines

During the December 5 Commissioners Court meeting, commissioners held a public hearing and discussed the re-adoption of county tax abatement guidelines.
