Focus falls on making crossings better in every way

Potential improvements on intersections throughout Georgetown and updates on their current status were presented to city council members during their Tuesday afternoon workshop to determine which projects should be given priority.

Williamson County prepares to celebrate National Night Out

Cities across the county are preparing for National Night Out on Tuesday, October 3. This year nearly 500 communities in Texas are expected to participate.

Williamson County commissioners approve September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

The Williamson County Commissioners Court unanimously voted to designate September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month during its September 12 meeting at the county courthouse. According to a proclamation read to the court, 72 county residents died by suicide in 2021.

Floods have written Williamson County’s history

September 1921 takes its place in Williamson County’s historic archives.  Fueled by a hurricane that formed in the Gulf of Mexico, a wicked storm pummeled Williamson County September 8-10, lasting 35 hours.

A Memorial Stair Climb was held at Birkelbach Field on Monday, September 11, 2023, the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.

Patriot volleyball team tops Elgin, 3-0

By Reporting Intern, Alexis Billingslea     On Friday, September 8 the East View Lady Patriots topped the Elgin High Lady Wildcats with a 3-0 win. Starting the Pats’ first set strong, Ashlyn Walther scored the initial two points with back-to-back aces.

The Williamson Museum honors Sun newspaper family

The 11th annual Cattleman’s Ball swings into life at the Sun City Ballroom September 23 at 5:30 p.m. This year’s honorees are publishers Clark Thurmond and Linda Scarbrough, who own The Williamson County Sun in Georgetown — an independent newspaper owned and operated by their family since 1948.
