Georgetown ISD trustees select Taylor ISD superintendent as lone finalist

Georgetown ISD Board of Trustees have named Taylor ISD superintendent Devin C. Padavil as the lone finalist for the GISD superintendency.
The announcement was made Monday, July 17.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Padavil to Georgetown,” Board President Elizabeth McFarland said.

Georgetown six-year-old Brixton Wood has been a lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fan. When choosing what team to support, he looked to his dad, Brodie, who had been a Bengals fan for over 20 years. Brixton decided that he, too, would support the midwestern team.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of GISD’s Hammerlun Center, 507 East University Avenue.

Georgetown temporarily enacts stage 3 water restrictions

The City of Georgetown issued a press release on Friday, July 14, stating due to high, sustained water use and system treatments nearing capacity, the city is temporarily enacting stage 3 water restrictions.
The restrictions will last until Monday, July 17.

Georgetown begins contract negotiations with TxDOT for Highway 29 construction

English Pub The Grumpy George opening on the Square this summer

European immigrants Karen and Jack Soeffker are creating an authentic English pub off the Square called Grumpy George. The restaurant could open in early August.
Ms. Soeffker — the owner of All Things Kids on the Square — is originally from England.
