Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector Larry Gaddes is leaving his elected office to accept a position as deputy executive director of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.On Tuesday, June 9, the Williamson County Commissioners Court accepted Mr. Gaddes' resignation.

GISD approves balanced budget for 2026-27 school year

Georgetown ISD trustees on Monday, June 15, adopted a balanced budget for next school year while making “strategic investments” in some employee compensation, benefits and healthcare services.However, there will be no salary increases for most GISD employees.

High school STAAR scores improve for Georgetown, Jarrell ISDs

The Texas Education Agency released 2026 high school STAAR test results June 10, and both Georgetown and Jarrell ISDs are riding high.In the tests’ “Meets Standard and Above” performance category, GISD improved in every test. JISD also improved in all but one, English II.

Georgetown 14-year-old raises $1,000 for Ride on Center for Kids

Chloe’s Pet Corral has been run by Chloe Harlow since she was in third grade and had a lesson about giving back to the community. Now 14, Chloe’s Pet Corral is not only an official nonprofit, but Chloe has raised $1,000 for the Ride on Center for Kids and also donated supplies for the animals.
