GISD gifted posters of 10 Commandments

Georgetown ISD has found itself in the middle of a battle between proponents of Texas’ new law to post 10 Commandments posters in classrooms and parents suing the state to block the action.

Killeen, Jarrell express interest in purchasing Georgetown water territory

The sale of portions of Georgetown’s water district is moving forward as city staff begin receiving responses from neighboring cities about purchasing Georgetown’s water service territory located in other cities’ extraterritorial jurisdictions.

Women Helping Others: Furbaby Food Pantry helps provide for pets

Furbaby Food Pantry is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families in need of assistance with their pet. It was established in 2021 by founder Kori Bindl, who shared information about the group’s mission with Women Helping Others this month.

Busy week for Southwestern athletics

The Southwestern University Volleyball team opened up Southern Athletic Association Conference play with three wins over the weekend.SU played two games on Saturday, September 20, against Sewanee and Oglethorpe University. The team played a third game on Sunday against Millsaps College.

Chris Stapleton, Brooks & Dunn to headline Two Step Inn

Chris Stapleton and Brooks & Dunn will headline next year’s Two Step Inn country music festival in Georgetown. The event takes place April 18 and 19 in San Gabriel Park. Other artists on the 2026 lineup include 90s rock band Goo Goo Dolls and country legend Randy Travis.
