Williamson County begins Phase 1 of new jail project

Williamson County Commissioners continued discussions about the county’s future jail during a meeting Tuesday, July 22. They directed planning and management firm Kitchell/CEM Inc.

Have a meow-velous time at the library

August 6 is in line to be one of the cutest days of the year, as kittens will return to the Georgetown Public Library. Dozens of adoptable kittens will be available for $35 at the library in support of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Students gain work experience through summer programming

Macy Sockwell loves animals. She has a 1-year-old dog, an 18-year-old cat and a horse named Shine. This summer, she put that love to use while gaining job skills at Wag Heaven through the Texas Workforce Commission’s Summer Earn and Learn program.

Williamson County opens disaster resource center for flood victims

Williamson County will open a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) this weekend, July 18- 20, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for residents impacted by the flood.

Georgetown’s impact fee requirements changed

Georgetown city staff are looking at how Senate Bill 1883 could affect the municipality’s ability to collect development impact fees.

Fundraiser set up for San Gabriel Park cleanup

The Friends of Georgetown Parks and Recreation has launched a fundraiser to support cleanup efforts at San Gabriel Park following recent flooding. The group set a $25,000 goal and has pledged to match donations up to that amount.

Williamson County is looking for properties that could house the county’s next jail, but planning hit a snag Tuesday, July 15, when county commissioners were divided on a potential contract for a property near Florence.

Georgetown to charge developers more for roads

The City of Georgetown could update its Transportation Impact Fees, which are paid by developers to help cover the construction or expansion of roadway systems that would support their projects.
