Update: The city is reopening its offices that were closed due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day and inclement weather. Additionally, Texas Disposal Systems customers will have their trash and recycling pickup days pushed back one day. For example, Tuesday pickup will be on Wednesday.

GISD, JISD to close Tuesday January 21, due to bad weather

Both Georgetown and Jarrell ISDs announced Sunday evening that they will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, due to forecasted inclement weather. Freezing precipitation and temperatures are expected throughout Monday night and into Tuesday morning, deeming it unsafe for travel.

Historic neighborhoods keep housing height

In the multi-year process of updating Georgetown’s building code standards, city council decided January 14 to maintain the current height restrictions for residential buildings in the San José and Track-Ridge-Grasshopper neighborhoods at 20 feet and 25 feet respectively.
