County Briefs: Williamson County operations pause for the holidays

 Williamson County Offices will be closed on several days in November to observe holidays: on Monday, November 11 for Veterans Day and for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Feliz Dia de los Muertos

Town hall covers sidewalks, drainage, energy planning

Georgetown residents asked questions, listened and learned about efforts happening around downtown Georgetown at a town hall meeting October 28.

Safety first, then trick-or-treat

The Texas Department of Public Safety is reminding residents to remain safe on Halloween whether attending an event, trick-or-treating or traveling the roads. “We know many Texans, young and old, will be out celebrating Halloween this year,” DPS Director Steven McCraw said.

El Monumento will become ‘Encantada’ with change of ownership

Rusty Winkstern has sold Georgetown Mexican restaurant  El Monumento to his nephew Alex Webber and his wife Cherie. The couple is renaming the restaurant Encantada. “We've been a part of the Monument family for decades plus now. Cherie about 10 years, myself about 12 years.” Mr. Webber said.

Fire dancer offers lessons, energy healing care

Georgetown resident Jessica Francis wears a lot of hats.She is the in-school-suspension coordinator at Forbes Middle School. She’s a bartender at both Barons Creek Winery and Six Strings Guitar Lounge. She owns her own Reiki therapy and mindfulness business, Mindful Movements.

Mermaid Pearl offers swim lessons for humans

She goes by Christen Killebrew on land and Pearl the Mermaid in the pool. In Georgetown, she’s been making the dreams of both children and adults come true through mermaid swim les- sons, parties and advocacy.
