Parkside MUD looks to add 40 acres

Parkside on the River — an established Municipal Utility District that will bring 2,800 homes between Highway 29 and Leander Road over the next 15 years — is looking to add 40.2 acres to the project.

Williamson County evaluating jail expansion, rework

The Williamson County Commissioners Court will implement a plan to provide short-term space to the Williamson County Jail beginning in October. Commissioner Valerie Covey Tuesday, August 20, discussed expanding the county jail and Justice Center to accommodate Wilco’s growing population.

Take an easy adventure to Granger

The City of Granger developed in the late 1800s  when the railroad intersected at the site. The community was named for a Civil War veteran. The Granger Banner Newspaper went into print and a post office was established. Banks, churches and schools followed.

Southwestern University students settle in ahead of semester

Southwestern classes begin on August 26, and students moved into their dorm rooms this past weekend. Move in day was Saturday, August 17. 

City tax rate expected to drop

Georgetown’s Fiscal Year 2025 budget is being constructed with a proposed tax rate of 36.47 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. This would represent a tax rate decrease from the 2024 Fiscal Year tax rate of 37.4 cents per $100 valuation.

What to know about upcoming Austin Avenue bridges construction

Developer plans new retail, yoga space near Sweet Lemon

A three-story building could be coming to the vacant lot at the corner of Church and Ninth streets one block from the Square.Historic Architecture Review Commission had a concept review discussion Thursday, August 8, about the plans for 205 East Ninth Street.

Prima Dora moves to the front of Barrels and Amps

Prima Dora gift store is moving into the former live music room in Barrels and Amps on the corner of Eighth Street and Austin Avenue. Prima Dora sells games and gifts geared toward adults — such as cocktail wear, adult card games and candles. The new location will open August 9 at 5 p.m.
