GHS, East View land in bottom quarter of Wilco high schools

Georgetown ISD’s two comprehensive high schools — Georgetown High School and East View — rank in the bottom quarter of Williamson County’s public high schools in the 2023 Best High Schools annual ranking compiled by U.S. News & World Report.  The magazine’s 2023 rankings were released Tuesday.

County bakes, literally, in worst possible drought conditions

With the end of summer approaching, Williamson County is experiencing a record drought. The worst drought previously was in August 2011, which lasted five months. The county returned to Moderate Drought in May 2012.

Bricks salvaged from Jarrell ISD’s 1916 Building are getting a second life as workers began installing them last week on the outside of the district’s new community space, designed as a replica of the original school building.

Williamson County recognizes employees of the year

Williamson County Commissioners Court recognized its employees of the year and project team of the year for 2023 during the August 22 meeting. The award recipients were selected by a committee with 29 nominations over five categories.

Wilco Commissioners Court approves proposed 2024 budget

Williamson County Commissioners on August 22 unanimously approved the proposed budget for the 2024 Fiscal Year on first reading and will vote on the finalized budget and tax rate during their next meeting.  The proposed expenditures to the general fund amount for FY 2024 totals $313.4 million.
