Williamson County lifts three-month long burn ban

County Judge Bill Gravell has lifted the burn ban for unincorporated areas of Williamson County today, Friday, December 6.

The burn ban took effect on September 24 due to the late summer rains. According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, 113 of the 254 counties in the state had active burn bans due to drought conditions.

Williamson County still advises residents to be cautious when conducting outdoor burning activities. These activities must be conducted under state regulations found in Texas Administrative Code Section 30 TAC 111.219.

Prior to conducting control burns, Williamson County officials ask that residents take the following steps:

  1.  Please contact your local fire department – Some fire departments may require a Burn Permit.
  2.  Please contact Williamson County Communications – Please call and report your control burn to Williamson County Communications at (512) 864-8282. Williamson County Communications should be able to inform you of any burning restrictions that Williamson County Communications has been made aware of and that may exist.
