Florence tackles admin contracts, infrastructure needs

 Florence City Council approved 37 agenda items during its November 12 meeting. Subdivision contracts After consulting with the city attorney, the city council voted to begin drafting the contracts for two subdivisions.

Church draws attention to gun violence

 The San Gabriel Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is joining a coalition of congregations, universities and advocates across Texas to display a “Vidas Robadas,” or  Stolen Lives installation to raise awareness about gun violence.

Georgetown undertakes road construction projects

The City of Georgetown has active road projects that will result in some street closures and detours this month. To accommodate construction, residents may use alternate routes or plan for potential additional travel time.

Giving Tuesday encourages nonprofit donations after Black Friday

For the eighth year in a row, Austin-based nonprofit I Live Here I Give Here will gather funds to distribute to other causes across Central Texas during Giving Tuesday December 3. Giving Tuesday is a worldwide annual day of giving on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.

Williamson County seeks feedback on Hazard Mitigation Action Plan

Residents can review and leave comments on Williamson County’s Hazard Mitigation Action Plan. Williamson County is gathering feedback on the draft plan until November 15. The draft is available on the county’s website www.wilcotx.gov/218/Emergency-Management. Comments can be emailed to oem@wilco.

Wilco shows off vegetable growing skills

Williamson County’s AgriLife Extension Office awarded residents with prizes for mini, giant and decorated pumpkins, best vegetables and best “wonky vegetables.” Earlier this year, the office offered pumpkin seeds and seedlings to residents. The vegetable show was new this year.

Marine Birthday Ball celebrates branch’s long history

The Marine Corps Williamson County Detachment will host a Marine Corps Birthday Ball in celebration of the branch’s 249th birthday. The public is invited to join in the celebration of the heritage and traditions of the Marine Corps November 9 at the Georgetown Community Center.
