Veterans’ dreams take flight

On a brisk November morning at Georgetown airport’s Cutter Aviation hangar, veterans and their spouses from The Oaks Gracious Retirement Living waited anxiously for their Dream Flight.

Business center opens in South Georgetown

Westinghouse Crossing will bring 225,000 square feet of single-story office, retail and flex space to the area around Westinghouse Road and North Mays Street. Antique seller to close shop after more than 3 decades

Since its early days, Georgetown Antique Mall has found appreciative new owners for old antique furniture, clothing, jewelry and home goods.“I’ve had people, four generations now, of families coming in,” Owner Carolyn Martin said.

Aerospace company plans to launch lunar lander by end of year

Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost team is getting closer to blast-off. After spending the past four months running lunar simulations and evaluating data, the Williamson County-based team is working non-stop on the company’s new lunar lander, which is scheduled to launch by the end of the year.

A year’s worth of research has revealed that the Georgetown Public Library needs more square footage to expand its services to meet future expected demands.

After nearly two hours of discussion, Georgetown City Council postponed a decision about a Special Use Permit for an already-operating industrial business park at 1305 Blue Ridge Drive, north of Westinghouse Road and adjacent to Teravista.

 A new restaurant in Florence hopes to take after the city’s namesake and “flourish” as a destination for residents looking for food on the downtown strip.Sailer’s Place Cafe and Bakery opened at the beginning of November at  208 East Main Street, Florence, and is off to a good start.

Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away. While some bakeries in the area — like Lulu’s Pie Shoppe on the Square — are already booked full for the holiday, there’s still some time to place a last-minute order for a traditional pie for your family’s dinner table.
