City continues water treatment capacity expansions

Repairs and expansion efforts at Georgetown’s water treatment plant last year resulted in an available capacity of 10 million gallons more per day in 2024 when compared to 2023. A more mild summer also resulted in more water in Central Texas reservoirs.

Taylor man sentenced to 15 years for stalking

Harley William Hovey, 30, of Taylor, pled guilty to stalking with a previous stalking conviction and will serve 15 years. According to the Williamson County District Attorney’s office, Mr. Hovey was a member of a Round Rock gym owned by the victim.

Williamson County selects new HR executive

Allen Frederick was named Williamson County’s chief people officer and head of the human resources department on Friday, October 25. "It is a true honor to serve the county in my new role as chief people officer,” Mr. Frederick said.

Restoring Williamson County's lost cemeteries

October 31 is the first of three days dedicated by various cultures to remembering the dead. In some Christian churches, Halloween is followed by All Saints’ Day and then by All Souls’ Day. In Mexico, this time is called Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead.

'Serving in a different capacity'

From strategic planning to reviewing applicants for an executive assistant, Rebecca Clemons — Wilco’s newly appointed county manager — has hit the ground running in her first month in her new role.

Williamson County Fair and Rodeo begins

The 2024 Williamson County Fair and Rodeo is rounding up residents from Wednesday, October 23, to Saturday, October 26, at the Williamson County Expo Center located on 5350 Bill Pickett Trail in Taylor. This is the organization’s fourth fair and rodeo.

Lan L. (Don) Hewlett, III, 89, family man, car dealer, Williamson County business leader and humanitarian passed away on October 17, 2024.Don was born in Lockhart, Texas on September 21, 1935 to Lan L. Hewlett and Kathryn Hilgers Hewlett.

Georgetown takes direction from county study in updating floodplains

Even though federal floodplain maps are considered the standard, the results from the county-headed study — which details changes to floodplains in Williamson County and Georgetown — are more current, more detailed and have the best available data about flood prone areas, according to Georgetown...

Williamson County residents continue to push for future road realignment
